Adding Text Directly

The "Edit Text" function will open the editing pane of your module as shown below.  The Edit page includes a built-in toolbar suite:

From here you can enter and manipulate text just as you would in a word processor.  Click in the editing field, delete the words "Add Content" and begin typing.

One difference between typing in a word processor and working on a web-based editor is the function of the "Enter" key.  In WebMedley, the ENTER key will double space each line.  To single-space, simply hold down the shift key when you strike the ENTER key.

Adding text by copying and pasting

WebMedley offers two methods of copying and pasting text from other software programs.

Pasting from Microsoft Word

1.)  To paste text from Microsoft Word, open a Word document, highlight the text you wish to copy, and click the "copy" button or select Edit->copy from the menu options.

2.)  Return to the WebMedley Text Edit field and click on the "Paste from Microsoft Word" button.

3.)  The "Paste From Word" dialog box will appear:

4.)  Click inside the rectangular area, and use the paste function (hold down CTRL and strike the "V" key) to paste your text.  The system will "clean" away any unrecognizable formatting.

5.)  Click "OK" and your text will be inserted in the "Edit Text" field.

Note:  Be aware that some of your formatting may be lost.

Please see the section on text attributes below to see examples of acceptable formatting for web-based projects.

Pasting as Plain Text

If you are using other text processing software (e.g., Microsoft Publisher, Print Shop, etc.) you will need to paste text using the "Paste as Plain Text" feature.

1.)  To paste as plain text, open the source program, highlight the text you wish to copy, and click the "copy" button or select Edit->copy from the menu options.

2.)  Return to the WebMedley Text Edit pane, click in the editing pane where you want to insert the text and click on the "Paste As Plain Text" button.

3.)  Your text will be pasted into the editing pane.

Working With Text Attributes

The following table will introduce you to the various functions of the editing toolbar.  You will notice there are a limited number of fonts available to you in the font menu.  This is because these fonts are common to all computers (with very few exceptions) and therefore they display correctly for everyone.  In order for other fonts to display correctly, visitors to your site will have to have them installed on their computers.  If you want to use other, more decorative fonts for page headers, etc., (like at the top of this page) you'll need to create and save them in a grapics editor, then upload and insert the text as an image.  You can learn more about working with images HERE.
